ABTC-UTLA is dedicated to offering quality biblical and theological education to qualified students, expanding its service and influence within the Christian and Hispanic faith communities.
We operate under the spiritual and denominational oversight of the American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA). ABTC-UTLA serves as a ministry and educational training arm of ABCUSA, with a special focus on the Hispanic - Latino community and other culturally diverse groups across the United States. The institution is also recognized by ABCOFLASH (American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles, Southwest and Hawaii) as a valid educational path toward ordination and with the Convencion de Iglesias Bautistas Hispanas, Fuller Theological Seminary, Palmer Theological Seminary, Eastern University,TUMI.
Program Recognition and Quality Standards
ABTC-UTLA’s Bachelor of Theology program is certified by the Association for Hispanic Theological Education (AETH). AETH is authorized by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS)—an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education—to certify the quality of theological education programs offered by undergraduate institutions.
This certification benefits our students in two major ways:
It affirms the academic quality and contextual relevance of the theological training offered.
Graduates of certified programs may be eligible to apply for graduate theological programs at seminaries accredited by ATS, where the AETH certification is accepted as a valid academic credential.
ABTC-UTLA’s program is designed to meet the equivalency standards outlined in Section ES.7.1.2 of the Educational Standards of the Association of Theological Schools.-
RECOGNITION OF ABTC – Legal Operation
American Baptist Theological Center (ABTC-UTLA) operates in compliance with the applicable provisions of the private postsecondary educational institutions. While ABTC-UTLA,it operates as a religious exempt institution, providing theological education consistent with its religious mission.
ABTC is a nonprofit religious organization duly registered under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). This designation by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) confirms our federal tax-exempt status as a charitable organization. As such, contributions to ABTC are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Our Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 95-4250089.
In our region LOS ANGELES - ABCOFLASH and more:
ABTC provides education and training for laypersons of ABC churches, and other Christian
traditions, through the Academies of Biblical Studies for the Laity, all taught in Spanish. Classes are offered in local churches strategically located throughout Southern California. Presently there are 3 centers. The curriculum for this program consists of 15 classes. We are now certified by the association AETH, Asociación de Educación Teológica Hispana de Los Estados Unidos, (ATS) regular in English.
We are offering since 2024 the Bachelor of Theology accredited (certified) by AETH.
With three certificates:
1.- 39 credits = Certificate in Biblical Studies.
2.-45 credits = Diploma in Ministerial Studies.
3.- 36 credits = finish the degree upon completion of all credits,
for a total of 120 credits to graduate with a Bachelor of Theology degree.

Estamos ofreciendo desde el 2024 la Licenciatura en Teología acreditada (certificada) por AETH. Con tres certificados:
1.- 39 créditos = Certificado en Estudios Biblicos
2.-45 creditos = Diplomado Ministerial
3.- 36 créditos = terminan con la licenciatura al terminar todos los créditos, en un total de 120 créditos para graduarse en la Licenciatura en Teología.
ALET-ACADEMIES AHORA UNIVERSIDAD DE TEOLOGIA LOS ANGELES son extensiones locales en iglesias de formación ministerial fundada en 1989 por American Baptist Theological Center (Centro Teológico Bautista Americano) para entrenar hombres y mujeres para el ministerio de la Iglesia en Los Ángeles, Condado de Orange, San Diego, Ontario, Arizona y más ciudades que se están agregando.
ALET-ACADEMIAS - AHORA UNIVERSIDAD DE TEOLOGIA LOS ANGELES es Miembro de la Asociación para la Educación Teológica Hispana (AETH) y estamos trabajando por ser miembros de la Asociación de Escuelas Teológicas (ATS) que prepara a los estudiantes para obtener una maestría en cualquier seminario acreditado por ATS en los Estados Unidos, Canadá y Puerto Rico.
LA UNIVERSIDAD DE TEOLOGIA LOS ANGELES (UTLA) ES conocida por ser el principal Centro de Capacitación para las Iglesias bautistas hispanas/latinas en el Área de Los Ángeles y Estados Unidos. Lo amerita su personal docente de alto nivel, con un 10% con maestría y un 90% con doctorados.
LA UNIVERSIDAD DE TEOLOGIA DE LOS ANGELES cuenta con la aprobación de la ABCOFLASH Región de ABC, Convención de Iglesias Bautistas Hispanas y more. También tenemos entrenamiento requerido en la denominación regional las conferencias de talleres de Educación continuada para pastores y líderes.

Contamos con un promedio de 250 alumnos, el cuerpo estudiantil representa a más de cincuenta iglesias dentro de Estados Unidos y más que están uniéndose. Nuestros graduados se pueden transferir a cualquier seminario que desean continuar con su maestría, también están activamente trabajando en el ministerio pastoral, la labor misionera y una diversidad de ministerios en congregaciones locales.
